Reforms underway for NSW EIA process

New South Wales is initiating a three-stage consultation process to introduce reforms in its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process.

Stage 1 has already commenced, involving the distribution of a discussion paper for public review.

The EIA refers to the entire process for both State Significant Development (SSD) and State Significant Infrastructure (SSI) proposals.

SA offers ambitious industry reform agenda

The SA State Government has released an ambitious and broadreaching discussion paper for overhauling industry regulation.

The SA EPA discussion paper titled "Reforming waste management - Creating certainty for an industry to grow" outlines the current state of the resource recovery sector and proposed reform options.

Revised NTRCS targets released

The Commonwealth has released a discussion paper offering revised targets for the national TV and Computer Recycling Scheme (NTCRS).

The discussion paper follows a national review of the scheme initiated in November 2014 - with the original scheme sending many processors broke and leaving huge stockpiles.

With the review under way, experts have released a list of 10 key outcomes needed to restore industry confidence.
